About Me

“MDA” AKA “Mr. Dope America” is a Mexican from an all black neighborhood in Indiana...his favorite meals are fried catfish with cole slaw and menudo con tortillas de maiz. He has been living in LA for the past 8 years and currently resides in Echo Park, not too far away from Music Plus TV’s sprawling studio compound. MDA is a modern day renaissance man…he has worked as a Flash Designer, Film Editor, Graphic Designer/Illustrator, DJ, Vocalist, Actor and Mexican Wrestler (Luchador).
After a violent match between “MDA” and a notoriously known wrestler by the name of “El Bendejo”…MDA found himself second-guessing his wrestling ability. Was it having to ice his sore legs after every match? Was it the 12 stitches he needed to close a cut on his massive left bicep? Or maybe it was his professional wrestling record of 0-48. After talking it over with his trainers he realized he was tired of the sore legs. He quickly turned to his passion for Hip Hop.
He started collecting vinyl when he was 11…(actually he stole his first record). His father actually had a very diverse record collection that MDA would sift through…Staples Singers, Isaac Hayes, Led Zeppelin, El Chicano, Ramon Ayala, Sly and the Family Stone, Neil Young. He loved it all. As time went on he started to become well known as a DJ and became antsy for bigger and better things. So he got a job as a bag boy at the local grocery store. He quickly realized that that job wasn’t bigger or better.
After moving to LA in 98 he became part of the OMNIGOD crew as a DJ/MC, along with fellow Indiana native, Paranorm. He soon became part of the Grand Royal group Scapegoat Wax, as their DJ and back-up vocalist. Scapegoat Wax toured extensively in the states and the UK and went on to sign with Hollywood Records. When the group broke up he and fellow Scapegoat Wax member Marty James started the group One Block Radius, along with Hieroglyphics affiliate, Z-Man. One Block Radius is currently touring with some of the bigger underground hip-hop groups around.
